Dad scouting a field that has flooded and drained, washing away most of our corn plants. These sickly few remain. The entire field will have to be reworked and replanted. $40,000 of seed and fertilizer gone to waste.

Half our crops should have been planted by now. Dad and the boys are weary of waiting and watching the sky. A time of worry has set in. It looks like more rain is on the way.
Yikes, I'm so sorry. I hope you guys get a break and things take a turn for the better.
ReplyDeleteSuch a heartbreaking picture! I hope the skies clear soon. From one farmer's daughter to another!
ReplyDeleteWell first, I'm so sorry that the weather is wiping everything away. How miserable! I hope things turn around for the farm and it works out.
ReplyDelete2nd-OHMYFREAKINGGODWHATANAMAZINGPICTURE!!!!!!!!!!
Paige- that is just shear genius. It's gorgeous, tells a story, the composition is just wonderful, the selective focus really makes it all pop. Oh my gosh- I really think this should be entered in a contest or something! You should at least submit this to the post dispatch so that they can let all of the viewers see this because so many people are being affected by this rain!
I could rave on and on about this pic- it really really stands out. It's wonderful- congratulations!
It is a beautiful if heartbreaking picture. I also hope the skies clear up soon, especially after this time last year.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Melissa 100%. This photo needs to be shared!
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry, Paige. This is such an amazing photo - it should be in the newspaper or on a website...have you ever thought of submitting these somewhere?....oops - I see I am not the only one to say this...well, there you go - your genius has been officially recognized!
ReplyDeleteLove,
Maddy
Um Hello! GGA, Paige that is one Fantabulous photo! Ridiculously Amazing! Melissa covered all the technical awesomeness of it. and shes right, publish that thing. I totally love the story told in it. Hate that you guys are going through it, though. Hope it dries up soon, but not drought dry.
ReplyDeleteWow, that picture really captures what's going on with the horrible weather. I'm also going to tell you to submit the picture.
ReplyDeleteSorry for the difficulties for your family.
That was really moving....your story and the picture, heart breaking, you are truly an artist. So aamamzing, praying for your family.
ReplyDeletePaige, this is an amazing picture. Please protect it on Flickr so no one can steal it (use photoshop to add a watermark with the name of your blog). And I completely agree that you need to submit this for something. The composition so perfectly tells the story - even without knowing the background behind it, you can still feel the pain of loss in it.
ReplyDeleteAmazing work!
And I'm so sorry that your dad lost so much. I hope the rains and floods stop soon.
I was reading a photography course a long time ago and it said the picture should tell a story. It's hard to do but this one, like so many of yours, do.
ReplyDeleteI hope things clear up.
Very powerful photo. It speaks volumes about loss.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear about the flood and loss of seed/crop... must be so hard to watch - your photo captures the emotion in such an amazing way xoxo
ReplyDeleteI have to agree with everyone here... I looked at the pic first before reading the caption, it tells the entire story....Congratulations on a wonderful picture.

ReplyDeleteSo sorry :( Terribly heartbreaking--and your photo truly shows that emotion!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry for all the sadness and problems behind the picture but I have to say, the photo is amazing.
ReplyDeleteThis picture is amazing Paige. My favorite so far. Tell us how you shot it. How are farmers able to make it when something likes this happens? Forty Thousand? Yikes.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry, that sucks.
ReplyDeleteAnd I agree on the picture being amazing!
