Food

I don't know why, but I had an urge to get on the scale this morning. I'm down two pounds. Normally a cause for cheer. Not a cause for worry, though. Pregnancy has created a new era. It's the first time in my adult life that I haven't either been binging or dieting. I eat when I'm hungry and stop eating when I feel full. I try to get in a few fruits and vegetables a day but otherwise eat what I want. I'm able to eat a cookie or two and feel satisfied. I don't constantly think about the next meal. I don't shovel junk into my mouth so fast that I barely taste it. The only food related worry I have is avoiding pregnancy no-nos and wondering if my baby is getting what it needs.

I've never been able to do this for myself.
Thankfully I've been able to do it for my baby.

  2. Your baby will take whatever s/he needs from your body. If anyone is going to be nutrient deprived, its going to be you. Take your prenatal vitamin and calcium every day and keep eating what and when you want!

  3. That's so awesome, Paige! What an awesome mom you are! I know I am an emotional eater and I tend to eat when I'm stressed or upset, so I hope this is also a sign that you are filled with joy these days! I know I am filled with joy for you!
    Love,

  4. Now that is a wonderful "symptom" to have! Good for you, perhaps it will be something that carries over after after the pregnancy.

  5. That's awesome! I hope that you learn to treasure yourself and your body in this process so you can continue to love it in this way even after the baby is born. Good work :)

  6. Paige, that's fantastic!

When I got pregnant I was already 30 lbs. overweight (triple UGH!!!) and my doctors told me, unanimously, that if I lost weight during pregnancy, that was perfectly good and that if I stayed at weight that would be fine too. But to try not to gain more than 10 lbs. I have gained 18 - Yikes! - and all since week 23. They're not too thrilled about that and neither am I.

So feel proud that you've actually lost a couple of lbs. You and your baby will both be better off for it.

  7. I second what others said in that the baby gets what it needs and it would be you not getting enough. Vitamins are good. Sounds like you're doing great though.

  9. I remember with my sister's first she lost about fifteen pounds in the beginning, because of morning sickness. But they kept a close eye on baby and she kept growing. Eventually my sister was able to eat and ended up gaining back the weight she lost and another ten.
Crazy what a little baby will have you do :)
