I'm PUPO!

Thanks for all the well wishes, everyone. I'm so glad I'm not alone on this journey.

Out of the 18 that survived, I ended up with 4 healthy embryos. Not really understanding why the number went down so dramatically but it is what it is and I'm grateful for the 4.

I had two beautiful A1 blasts transferred today. I'm really PUPO! Finally!!

The drive over there was a nightmare. I fought my way through construction on the Illinois side only to encounter miles of gridlocked traffic on the bridge due to an overturned and burning 18 wheeler. After I passed the accident, I drove like a bat out of hell and was about 20 minutes late. Today, of all days....

The procedure went smoothly, without incident. I asked Dr. A what he thought my chances were today, he said 60+percent. He told me 75 percent months ago when I started this process. Before I could ask him why it had gone down the embryologist came in and things got very quiet, almost tense.

After 30 minutes of "rest" in a room with a TV and bright lights, I was sent home to an afternoon of bed rest. Thankfully the drive home was smooth. I keep trying hard to "feel" implantation cramps or a fullness in my uterus but so far...nada. I feel many good, positive feelings of hope but this is going to be the toughest wait of all.

Dear Embies,
I love you very much.
Please stay.

Dear Blog Family,
Please pray for us.

  5. Yay! That's very exciting. You relax and pamper yourself! Hope time flies until you can test. Don't worry about the quantity, it's the quality that matters. Sounds like the quality is fabulous. I had the same thing happen. I went from 18 to 6 by day 5. Am currently pregnant with DE twins and had the same quality as you. I have a great feeling about this.

  6. Congratulations! How stressful going through traffic and construction when you really don't want to be late... glad the drive home was smooth! Isn't it funny how the "rest" is in such a bright sterile room... at least turn the lights out please.
Anyway, happy you have strong embries and sending wishes of sticky baby dust!

  9. I can't believe the bad luck of horrible traffic on your way to your ET! Didn't you just want to roll down your window and yell, "outta my way, people! I'm trying to get pregnant and you're making me late!"

I'm so excited we'll be in the 2ww together!

  10. My stellar donor produced 39 eggs and on Day 3, there were 30 embryos. On day 5, I had 10 blasts and another 5 blasts on day 6 (more optimal to have them on day 5). Anyway, I wound up with 30% blasts on day 5 from the amount on day 3. I'm pretty convinced that of the 15 that were discarded, there were several that could have been transferred on day 4 into other women and several would have taken and made perfect babies but I'm POSITIVE that the ones that made it to day 5 had the BEST chance to not only succeed to pregnancy but to continue into a healthy pregnancy, sans chromosomal abnormalities. So...you should feel GREAT about your chances. In fact, I think you'll probably get twins out of this. :)

The next 2 weeks will suck and be happy and if you're anything like me, those will be the frustrating range of emotions.

But you're well on your way!

  11. praying, praying, praying. take it easy and try not to overanalyze everything. that is what i did and it nearly drove me nuts. Congrats on being PUPO!!!! Day 5 embies tend to do the best. We had 3 day 3 babies that did not make it, so I am encouraged by your blasts. Good luck Momma!

  12. This is wonderful news!!! 60% is a wonderful statistic... wow. You are so going to get pregnant! Don't worry about the implantation. It can take 7-10 days past ovulation, and with IVF it can be even longer (so my doc says). I didn't feel a thing, and was quite sure I wasn't pregnant. So, don't let the symptoms or lack thereof freak you out (yeah, I know, that's impossible). My advice? Get lots and lots of sleep, rest and don't move around too much, and eat a little bit of ice cream every other day.
